Orestes Forlenza
General Project Coordinator - IPQ - USP
Master’s and PhD in Psychiatry from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of São Paulo. Specialization in Geriatric Psychiatry from the University of London. He is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at FMUSP, working in care, teaching, and research with a focus on Geriatric Psychiatry and Neurosciences. Currently, he is Deputy Head of the Department of Psychiatry at FMUSP. Member of the Coordinating Committee and advisor of the Graduate Program in Psychiatry at FMUSP.

Augusto Afonso Terra Júnior

PhD in Public Health - Epidemiology from the Faculty of Medicine at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Associate Professor and researcher in pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, pharmacoeconomics, and data engineering at the same university. He coordinates the SUS Collaborating Center for Technology Assessment and Excellence in Health (CCATES/UFMG) and produces research and reports, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, to support Conitec/SUS decision-making on health technologies and clinical protocols.

Claudia Moreira - Alana
Instituto Alana
Graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry, holds a PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) from Unifesp in partnership with the University of Michigan. Worked on projects at UFRJ in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to improve laboratory infrastructure in Mozambique and on HIV prevalence studies in Angola. Currently, she is a Project Coordinator at Alana Foundation and Instituto Alana. The project addresses issues related to Down syndrome, funding clinical research and initiatives related to the subject.

Érika Cristina Pavarino

PhD from UNESP - São José do Rio Preto and Associate Professor at FAMERP, she is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of São José do Rio Preto, teaching Genetics, Medical Genetics, and Molecular Biology in Nursing, Medicine, and Psychology undergraduate programs. She is also a Tenured Professor in Human and Medical Genetics. She develops research in the areas of Biomarkers and Clinical Genetic Investigation in Human Diseases (with an emphasis on Down syndrome), Genetics, and Cancer.

Gabriela Arantes Wagner

Associate Vice Provost of Extension and Culture and Associate Professor II in the Department of Preventive Medicine, as well as Advisor to the Graduate Program in Public Health at the Federal University of São Paulo. She holds a Postdoctoral degree in Epidemiology from the Faculty of Public Health at USP, a PhD in Sciences from the Graduate Program of the Department of Psychiatry at USP, and specialization in Analytical Toxicology from UNICAMP. Graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Clinical and Toxicological Analysis from PUC-Campinas. She was awarded in the Young PhD Researcher category of the National Drug Research Network project, Ministry of Justice. Researcher of the Scientific Technical Committee of the Brazilian Federation of Down Syndrome Associations and Instituto Jô Clemente.

Luciene Covolan

She conducts research in Neurophysiology, mainly on the following topics: epilepsy, cell injury, neurogenesis, animal behavior, deep brain stimulation, and intellectual disability. Rosane Lowenthal

Vice-Director of the Medical Course at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo and Associate Professor in the Department of Mental Health at the same university. Holds a Postdoctoral degree in Psychiatry and Medical Psychology from UNIFESP and a PhD in Learning Disorders from Mackenzie Presbyterian University. Currently, she collaborates with the Down Syndrome Interesting Medical Group. She was President of the Brazilian Federation of Down Syndrome (2006–2008). She also actively participated in the development of the National Special Education Policy with a focus on Inclusive Education.

Susan Pereira Ribeiro
Emory University
Biologist with a PhD and postdoctoral degree in Immunology from the Faculty of Medicine at USP, currently Professor at Emory University in the United States. She has over 15 years of experience in basic immunology research as well as translational research. She leads studies in infectious diseases (including HIV and COVID-19) and studies related to immune changes in patients with Down syndrome. She applies multi-omics techniques (single-cell analysis, epigenetics, flow cytometry, metabolomics, microbiome, etc.) and systems biology to integrate data and address fundamental questions about the mechanisms causing various pathologies.
